A Photography Festival in Oujda : Why ?
The international festival of photography in Oujda, under the title “the Right of the Image, and the Right to the Image’ is an initiative of Fotgrafiact (association of Moroccan photographers), in collaboration with the Centre of Human and Social studies and Researches, Oujda ‘CERSHO’, and the participation of the Orient’s Wilaya – the Ministry of Culture, the Saoudi Association of Arts and Culture, IFO (the French Oriental Institute). It will take place from Thursday 21st to Sunday 24th May 2009 in the following locations:

Objectives
* To crown the activity of photography art in the Oriental region thanks to photo workshops organized at galleries, the University Mohamed I, the Institute MY Slimane, the French Institute, the institute of technology and computer sciences, CERSHO and artists’ associations.
* To promote people’s image culture
* To participate in the effort of human development which is animating Morocco especially the Oriental regions in the framework of INDH (National Initiative of Human Development)?
* To enhance the touristic potentialities of the region through photography.
* To exploit photography as a means of public sensitizing with the aim of safeguarding the regional natural patrimony.
* Enhancing the techniques of photography.

* To create a space that favors a climate of tolerance and mutual understanding among photographers belonging to different cultures.

* Exhibition of the works of honorary guests (a group of Saoudi photographers).
* Collective exposition of participants.
* Conferences and scientific meetings.
* Screening at different Public spaces.
* Portfolio Review (presentation of the participants’ works)
* A photographic tour
* Exhibition of the photographic material of a local collector.
* Excursion to Beni Znassen
* Workshop, in favour of the youth, and the specialists.
* Distribution of the prizes of the best photos of the photographic tour.
* Distribution of participation certificates
The Festival Productions
* Catalogue ‘photographic profile of the medina’ illustrated by participant artists.
* A special number of CERSHO documents on the festival.
* Production of an interactive CD on the festival.
* Postal cards illustrating the participants’ works.
